Health > Everything Else

I share Marc’s post because it echos everything we believe and teach here at 6-Figure Health…
Without your health, everything else will suffer.
Your health drives how you feel, think, perform, and show up in every other area of your life.
And it should be treated with that level of priority.
Because it’s what helps you prioritize everything else to the best of your abilities.
So if you care about your career and family (which I assume you do) then you should also care about showing up as your best self for those.
And the only way to do that is making sure you're taking care of yourself too.
Here’s how to lose weight the wrong way…
A new client signed up with us recently.
Over the last six months, he only hit the weight room sporadically.
But cardio? He was a cardio king. He crushed Orange Theory and rode his Peloton at home.
He tracked how many calories he burned - which is why he was PISSED when we lost a bit of weight, but wasn’t really looking any better.
As we talked, we found a few common mistakes:
1) He wasn’t paying attention to protein.
He did a lot of fasting until noon, but didn’t have a plan for a lunch.
He was having 20 or 30g of protein and a bar for a snack.
He made dinner with the family, but it was “carb” heavy to please the kids.
All in all, he was getting about 100-120g of protein, about 60% of what he needed.
Without that protein, you’ll lose muscle, not just fat - which slows down your metabolism and how you get the “skinny fat” look.
2) He focused on burning calories, not gaining strength/maintaining muscle.
This is super common. But unhealthy.
“Calorie burn” is not a reliable or good metric for maximizing fat loss.
And if you’re eating in a deficit for fat loss, your body is going to BURN muscle if…
→ You don’t resistance train to keep it.
→ You don't get enough protein.
This leads so many people to say, “Hey, I’m eating less and moving more, what gives?” before getting frustrated, and rightly so.
The truth:
If you want to lose fat while still looking, feeling, and performing your best every day...
You need to focus on protein + resistance training as part of your approach.
If you don’t, you won't just lose fat but muscle too...
Leading to a slower metabolism and a “smaller body,” but probably not one that looks the way you want.
